I don’t like calling cops pigs.
This asshole, Lieutenant John Pike of the UC Davis Police Department, is a pig.
They are sitting there, en masse.
Along he comes, spraying an orange-tinted substance onto the lot of them, without provocation, and apparently with the approval of the rest of his officers, who do absolutely nothing to stop this fucking pig.
Lieutenant John Pike is a fucking pig.
A fucking asshole pig.
And if you think the Occupy movement is going anywhere — if you think it’s gone dormant, and that it’ll just disappear, remember what this fucking pig did.
Because we will.
The reason OWS is terrifying to the power structure and brings this sort of brutality is because it shatters the big lie; the central lie of Authoritarianism, the lie of top-down power.
Societal power, regardless of origin, is through the consent of the masses. The powerful have spent the past century rebuilding monarchy under a new name. The supposed source of their power is different, their tyranny is a new breed, but the 1% are Kings and Barons and Dukes nonetheless. Instead of being chosen by God they claim to be chosen by the mandate of the market. They push the idea that their wealth and power are inherently theirs. They push the idea that gains that are less than what they expect are somehow losses. They build their empires on other people’s efforts and call themselves ‘job creators’ It is a lie. Just as the King was only a King because enough people believed he was royal these modern-day overlords are only powerful because the masses give them that status.
You can see it in the eyes of the brutal police thugs in this video. They are armed, in body armor and one of their own has just sprayed down at least a dozen people with a caustic chemical weapon. Their claims of fear for their lives prior to this point are lies. The thug-in-the-lead, who brandishes his weapon tauntingly before turning it on the crowd, can be seen stepping over the line of students moments before in longer cuts. He clearly has no fear.
He has no fear, that is, until he and his realize the crowd isn’t going to play by the rules. They don’t scatter and run, they mass and corral the aggressors in their midst and drive them out with shame and numbers.
You can see the terror in the eyes of the “Police” when this starts. The protesters aren’t playing by the rules! They aren’t recognizing their Authoritarian power! It’s almost as if they… aren’t afraid. The crowd recognizes the illusionary nature of the thugs’ authority and they reject it. Robbed of their Authoritarian powers, they have only their physical weapons, which are obviously impotent when facing superior numbers who are not intimidated.
If OWS and its fellows were truly the terrible people the newsmedia desperately tries to paint them as, John Pike would be dead and many of the other cops would be too. That’s where the terror comes in.
Decades of exploitation, theft, graft, bribery and corruption throughout business and politics has made the 1% think they are invincible. They feel justified that they can act as tyrant royalty and the serfs and peasants will simply have to take what they are given.
When the masses stop believing in Kings, then Kings are just men.
